COMMON: Winter Jasmine
LEAVES: Opposite, pinnately compound, 3 leaflets, .5" to 1.25" long, half as wide, deep lustrous green, no fall color
SIZE: 3 to 4' tall, 4 to 7' wide, may grow much higher if trained to grow on a wall or trellis, 12 to 15'
HARDINESS: Zone 6 to 10
HABIT: Broad spreading with trailing branches
GROWTH RATE: Fast
FLOWERS: Bright yellow, red in bud, January through March, peak flowering in February, cold temperatures below zero may damage flower buds
FRUIT: Bright red berry, very nice, 1/3", Sept/Oct through winter
SOILS: Adaptable, prefers well drained soils, somewhat drought resistant, does well in poor soils too
LIGHTING: Full sun or shade, however shade will reduce flowering production
USES: Banks, poor soil areas, massings, along walls and growing over same
MAINTENANCE: Reasonably trouble free, every few years best to cut plants back to 6" and allow them to rejuvenate
