Celastrus orbiculatusCOMMON: Chinese Bittersweet LEAVES: Alternate, simple, oblong, 2 to 4", dark green, 1/2 to 1" petiole SIZE: 20' HARDINESS: 3 to 8 HABIT: Vine GROWTH RATE: Fast FLOWERS: May/June, yellow/white, not significant FRUIT: October, used in dry flower arrangements SOILS: Adaptable, will grow in poor soils LIGHTING: Sun is best USES: Not much, maybe to cover fences, old trees, rock piles, etc. MAINTENANCE: Can overtake an area. May need to keep pruned.
